Red is also found on one of her cheeks, like a wound, a mark of physical pain that echoes the emotional pain symbolized by the broken heart. On the other cheek, a blood-colored tear flows from her eye, a visual manifestation of sadness and grief. Her lips, a darker red, almost grayish, are closed, as if she is holding back her words, her screams, her pain.
The woman is wearing a necklace that evokes Hindu or Mayan influences, adding an almost demonic dimension to the work. This element adds a layer of mystery and complexity to her character. On her head, she wears flowers of a broken white, matte, which resemble funeral flowers. This ornament, usually associated with beauty and life, is presented here in a faded version, adding an atmosphere of mourning and loss to the image.
Her gaze is intense, sad, as if she wanted to cry but was holding back. There is a palpable tension between anger and sadness in her expression, as if she were torn between these two emotions. She is a woman who has suffered, who is still suffering, but who refuses to be overwhelmed by her pain.
As an artist, I wanted to capture the complexity of human emotions through this work. The broken heart symbolizes pain and suffering, but also resilience. The red, used here as a symbol of pain and passion, contrasts with the black and white of the image, underlining the intensity of the woman's emotions. This work is an exploration of pain, loss, and resilience in the face of adversity. It is a tribute to the strength of the human spirit, to its ability to endure, to survive, and to rebuild despite heart wounds.
