1914 Ruggero Falanga is born in Taormina.
1927 Completes elementary school and begins to help his mother by working as an apprentice to a tailor in Taormina.
1935 Moves, only to Turin continues work as a tailor and attends, nude school.
1941 He is admitted to the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts on a scholarship.
1946 He obtains a diploma in the painting course at the Accademia Albertina: he will teach there for 2 years. Enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture at the Turin Polytechnic, he obtains another scholarship.
1959 Moves to Milan to the studio that was formerly Tranquillo Cremona's.
1960 During the exhibition at the S. Fedele gallery in Milan, he has to travel to Taormina to assist his dying father. He receives some awards abroad as well and is interviewed by Radio Palermo.
1961 His mother also dies. Ruggero's grief is great. The studio in Via Solferino is completely wallpapered in black. There is not a thread of color or light.
1962 He struggles to recover. His paintings will begin to be populated with figures. The silver period begins.
1963 He meets Elio Vittorini and Quasimodo. With the former he fraternizes and spends many nights in endless conversations about life and art.
1970 He dies on December 2 strangely well-dressed. He is found two days later still with a cigarette in his mouth, supine on the sofa-bed where he used to sleep fully clothed.

1914 Nasce a Taormina Ruggero Falanga.

1927 Completa le scuole elementari e comincia ad aiutare la madre lavorando come apprendista presso un sarto di Taormina.

1935 Si trasferisce, solo a Torino continua il lavoro di sarto e frequenta, la scuola di nudo.

1941 Viene ammesso all’Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti con una borsa di studio.

1946 Ottiene il diploma al corso di pittura presso l’Accademia Albertina: qui vi insegnerà per 2 anni. Iscritto alla facoltà di architettura del Politecnico di Torino, ottiene un’altra borsa di studio.

1959 Si trasferisce a Milano nello studio che fu già di Tranquillo Cremona.

1960 Durante la mostra presso la galleria S. Fedele di Milano deve recarsi a Taormina per assistere il padre morente. Riceve alcuni riconoscimenti anche all’estero e viene intervistato da Radio Palermo.

1961 Muore anche la madre. Il dolore di Ruggero è grandissimo. Lo studio di via Solferino è completamente tappezzato di nero. Non vi è un filo di colore o di luce.

1962 Faticosamente si riprende. I suoi quadri cominceranno a popolarsi di figure. Inizia il periodo argento.

1963 Conosce Elio Vittorini e Quasimodo. Col primo fraternizza e trascorre molte notti in interminabili conversazioni sulla vita e sull’arte.

1970 Muore il 2 dicembre del 1970 vestito stranamente in maniera accurata. Lo ritrovano dopo due giorni ancora con la sigaretta in bocca, supino sul divano-letto ove era solito dormire completamente vestito.
