I created my first company in the building industry (waterproofing cover) in 1979, I was 26 years old. I was very quickly confronted with the problem of competition and consequently prices which drop as the years progress.
This induced in me the desire to get out of this infernal cycle. For that I had to innovate, to no longer do what everyone else does.
My in-laws living in the United States, I had to travel. My father-in-law as an architect having his office in Las Vegas allowed me to see processes that we do not know in France.
In particular, a very daring but very original way of tinting concrete floors.
He put me in direct contact with the people who had developed this technique.
Ernie Bullogh had brought up to date a French technique that dated from the "Art Deco" years and which consisted of rusting nails in bleach.
The liquid product obtained (water green color) was projected on a gray concrete floor which miraculously became fawn over the minutes then dead leaf color then "horse saddle" color, revealing nuances and very interesting effects until then never seen. The concrete was getting rusty... like "Corten Steel".
On my return, I spoke about my project to carry out these experiments on concrete floors to Architects whom I knew well and who trusted me in my trades, waterproofing.
I found a very favorable response from those who saw a way to personify the floor of a house, a store, a barrel cellar, etc.
A few years later, when I acquired a digital machine, I decided to go into "engraving".
I started by engraving the Harley logos on 60 cm x 60 cm and 3 mm thick plates on Corten Steel .
