Biography Nina Boos

Born in Kamp-Lintfort in the Lower Rhine region in 1959, Nina Boos came to Oldenburg via the Weserbergland in 1990.

Her father, Hans Boos, was a well-known cartoonist in Nina Boos' hometown of Kamp-Lintfort in the Lower Rhine region. Through interactions, Nina Boos' first comics were created on paper in the early 1960s. After all, her father was known as the "Wilhelm Busch of the Lower Rhine".

In 1974 Nina Boos began her first training as a display designer.

In 1978 she decided to continue her training as a graphic designer.

Initially she didn't let her brush run as freely as she does today. But her job as a graphic designer meant she was never far from art. She worked with clay, designed and made puppets.

But she constantly wanted to fill white spaces with her ideas. After trying out various techniques, today she uses "acrylic on canvas". and “pastel chalk on paper” are her passion and her artistic credo.

It can rightly be said of Nina Boos that her works cannot be easily pigeonholed or, in other words, whose works could not be assigned to any category.

The creation of her pictures is not dependent on detailed advance planning, but rather takes place in a spontaneous creative process that is expressed in many small cheat sheets scattered throughout Mrs. Boos’s apartment.
Nina Boos receives inspiration for her works from small, mostly funny events from “normal everyday life.”

On the surface, one might come to the conclusion that her works are comic art.
To be more precise, however, it can be said that they are cartoons that certainly appear abstract in a specific way but with a clear reference to concrete forms that Nina Boos borrowed from the aforementioned "normal everyday life" with its "normal human relationships".

Within the pictures created with immense painterly temperament, "quotations" from a real world can be perceived again and again, which the painter, however, implemented in an extraordinarily subtle and funny way.

But what is particularly remarkable is her courage to use color, or rather, her courage to compose the colors. Because of her penchant for perfection, especially when drawing the delicate lines, the amount of time it takes to complete a work is enormous, something that the viewer is not really aware of when looking at it.

In 2006 Nina Boos had her first and successful exhibition in the
Cafe Rosengarten in Oldenburg.

This was followed in 2007 by many more exhibitions, such as in the renowned artists' village
and the North Sea resort of Dangast.

In 2008 Nina Boos had a major exhibition in the Oldenburg gallery "Tabula".

In the same year, an Argentinian filmmaker became aware of her and
named...
