The work is inspired by the style and theme of Frieda Kahlo's work.
She depicts the contradictions in today's society with a connection to her personal life.
On the one hand, it represents the human capacity to connect with the environment and to be part of nature. On the other hand, the Western industry and focus on commerce and capitalism.
The artist is portrayed in-between these two worlds.

Lexa richt zich als digitaal kunstenaar op het verbeelden van menselijkheid. Haar werk door de jaren heen beschrijft haar zoektocht naar mens-zijn.
Rond de eeuwwisseling maakt ze de overstap van olieverf en acryl naar het digitale canvas. Innovatie, nieuwe technieken en methodes ontwikkelen houdt haar werk interessant.
Als grafisch vormgever ligt haar focus op 3d design, serious gaming. Waar in de wereld van 3d hyperrealisme hoog in het vaandel staat, geeft zij er de voorkeur aan om met dit ‘realisme’ te spelen. Realiteit is een concept, geen vaststaand feit.

De intentie van het verbeelden van menselijkheid blijft overeind. Het schept hernieuwde waardering en een blik van verwondering van waaruit je de mens kunt aanschouwen.
