The series in general deals with female identity and intends to capture several emotions and character traits. The females I depict show a certain moment in time – compared to a moment captured on camera. The artworks represent the state of mind, attitude, wish or even perception of oneself rather than an accurate illustration of reality. Some artworks are influenced by the atmosphere of famous movies or tv series and convey the impact and lasting impression of strong female characters.

In this series I not only aims to show their natural and wild origin, but also depict them as a fascinating changelings. Transformation in nature is a means of survival, and certainly has been a metaphor for their ability to powerfully navigate the world. A goddess isn't just any one person, it is everyone. The collective unconscious is the element of human beings that we all share. Myth is important, because it comes from the collective unconscious and can be expressed or translated in many ways.

Lena's "planetary series" shows alien women in an expressive and colorful style. Each artwork is devoted to a certain planet or simply takes place in a foreign environment. The women in those paintings sometimes simply say from where they are, thereby acknowledging that they are different. Sometimes an ordinary scene just is taking place in a different environment aiming to show an alternate, familiar-unfamiliar reality. Although this series has been deeply inspired by the possibility of alien life and by Lena's fascination with space, its deeper meaning is to address the topic of otherness and female identity.

The Orion Girls series is inspired by and devoted to the Orion constellation and its stars. Orion has been known since ancient times and is as mythical and magical as it is fascinating. My alien girls are representations of something transcendental, yet untouchable.

The Oumuamua Girls Series is inspired by the so-called "Oumuamua" object, the first known interstellar object to visit our solar system. It appears to be a rocky, cigar-shaped object with a somewhat reddish hue. For this reason, Lena’s "alien" girls all have red skin. The object was named "Oumuamua" by its discoverers in Hawaii (meaning the very, very first messenger). Since Lena is a huge space lover and her imagination goes beyond everything, she likes to think about alien life forms, especially women - strong, enigmatic, fascinating, and vibrant. This series is devoted to outer space and is a depiction of her visions of the sublime and untouchable beauty.

Biografie
Lena Snow is an award winning fine artist based in Germany who currently has her studio in a small town on the edge of the Black Forest where she is working on her latest artworks while keeping in touch with nature. The artist is specialized in female portraiture with her main medium being paper. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Mannheim and Karlsruhe.
Lena explores various aspects of femininity and female identity in her paintings. Her inspiration are personal stories of women she encountered, but also female characters in mythology, film, and literature. They are a new, powerful, and emancipated approach of one’s identity and sexuality, and at the same time they stand for empowerment for all women. For a long time, only men have painted women, neglecting their personal stories of ambivalence, trauma, and multifaceted nature, but it is time that women change the narrative and capture their unique stories by contributing to a new, empowered expression of elevated femininity.
