Tribal masks came in fashion already in the early 20th century: Picasso and his contemporaries loved to be surrounded by African and Oceanic tribal art.
This piece has the same African -Asian atmosphere with its beautiful mixture of decayed and rusty paint and its burst open en expressive surface, which Cosé conceived with purposeful and effective cuts in the material.
