This is the first LARGE abstract I've done based on a series of designs and compositions that I did on the computer using several different photo editing programs. I did all the designing and editing on them while including a few 'happy accidents'. I've got plans for more and am about to start the next one, and have several ideas already lined up. This painting is for a larger room. I titled it so because of it looks somewhat like a large brain and also reminds me of volcanic lava with the ash floating on top. I've very happy with the way it came out. It's oil on canvas and has heavy stretchers. Unframed but wired for hanging on the back. Varnished for protection. Kind of a nod to the old sci-fi movie 'the Brain from Planet Arous'.

Jeff Cornish is a contemporary award-winning American painter. His favorite themes are about the quality of light, mostly cinematic or noirish lighting, moody night scenes, and female figures.
For his works he got Honorable Mention, Michigan Annual XXXI, in 2003; Grant, Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, in 2001; Best of Show, Michigan Annual XXI, 1998; People’s Choice Award, Look ‘88; Award for Excellence, Michigan Fine Arts Competition, 1983; Best in Show, Annual Eastern Michigan Exhibition, 1983.
Jeff Cornish was born in 1955, in St. Clair, Michigan, USA, where he graduated from the Central Michigan University of Fine Arts.
