Ich, Ploner Gerhard lebe und arbeite in einem kleinem Dorf namens Gufidaun im schönen Südtirol. Schon mit 14 Jahren entdeckte ich den Weg zur Kunst und besuchte das Kunstgymnasium mit Abschlussdiplom. Daraufhin spezialisierte ich mich im Bereich der Holzbildhauerei und besuchte die Landesberufschule der Bildhauerei im Grödnertal. Nach Abschluss kehrte ich nach Hause zurück, wo ich mich seither voll und ganz der figurativen Kunst widme. Schwerpunkt meiner Arbeiten ist der Naturstoff Holz. Holz ist ein natürlicher Werkstoff und es ist faszinierend, wie ein rohes Holzstück an Form gewinnt und dadurch  ein elegantes einzigartiges Kunstwerk entsteht. In den vergangenen 20 Jahren nahm ich an verschiedenen internationalen Schnee und Eis Symposien teil und konnte mehrere Erfolge feiern. Ich liebe es, aus unscheinbaren Hölzern Faszinierendes zu schaffen. So ist mein Leben.
