I present this photographic work of mine entitled M.A.N.N, which is the acronym, as it is commonly called in Naples, for the National Archaeological Museum, one of the most important museums in Europe dedicated to archaeology.
I had long felt the need to interpret the archaeology of this museum artistically after my visit in spring 2017. Always very doubtful and sceptical, I asked myself whether it was legitimate to present these works, experimenting with a free chromatic interpretation with the addition of a frame, which is an integral part of the photograph itself.
Whenever I deal with Photography, the ‘photographic thought’ of the great Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri, who invites us to ‘dare and be curious’, is always present in my head.
I have a great defect in doing Photography, I cannot like and recognise myself in what I have photographed, if I do not interpret what my gaze has caught; I never feel it is mine, the need to interpret is absolute. I have always considered myself not a photographer but simply an interpreter of Photography.
This work is part of a project consisting of 23 images with the same title.
