It represents my accident in free fall with my parachute in 1973 in Schaffen. The smell of the grass was my first sensation as I lay on the ground gasping for air like a fish out of water and taking in the first breath of air. Then I realized I was still alive.
My main parachute opened like a torch, the reserve parachute revolved around it as it opened. I spun around my parachutes like a top and saw the ground rapidly approaching me. I realized that I was falling to my death and falling to my death
The vulture sitting on infinity waiting for a meal. A watch without hands that no longer tells time. My arms open wide in a vain attempt to open my parachute. Amazed people watching books that I could have filled with the thoughts that filled my brain to bursting.
My savior between the clouds.
Bob Ivens is a contemporary Belgian painter. His works are often highly provocative. The observer is often simultaneously shocked and amazed by the whimsical and strange subject matter. Some people might find them offensive, while others could find them humorous or silly. Ivens uses traditional oil paint and primarily resembles Salvatore Dali's surrealist works.
Bob Ivens was born in 1948, in Antwerp, Belgium, where he graduated from the Art Academy in Antwerp.
