Story about the painting:
I'm a movie fan, so one early autumn evening I went to a retro cinema to watch the mystery thriller Blow-Up with Vanessa Redgrave again.
The street where the cinema is located shone in the rays of the slowly setting sun. It was completely empty, only two young women were standing on the sidewalk in front of the cinema, waving burning circles of fire in their hands. I've seen all kinds of things, but I didn't understand this scene... what does it want to be? The whole thing had a very strong mystical charge, and at the same time it was absurd, and I just stood there looking dumbfounded at this very strange scene.
Only after a while did I think of filming her with my cell phone. I felt that I had just found the subject for my next painting. Because of the burning circles and the proximity of the cinema, the idea of naming it after another strange film - the psychological horror Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me - immediately popped into my head.
So, in short, that is the story of this somewhat mystical and strange painting.

Zsombor Barakonyi is a contemporary Hungarian painter. His unique visual language offers viewers new levels of perceiving reality, in which, by overwriting conventional approaches, he builds a dialectic relationship between content and objectuality.
Barakonyi‘s works are postmodern panel paintings depicting visions of metropolitan flâneur. The depicted scene is always a snapshot, capturing a moment in the urban hubbub and commotion, which reveals itself through a model of perception whose anchoring points have been shifted into a new balance.
Zsombor Barakonyi was born in 1972, in Budapest, Hungary. After graduating from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and also earning a Doctor of Liberal Arts degree there, Barakonyi went on to win numerous awards and prizes.
