Description de l’œuvre
Aureal Eugénio Koffi Dossou is a visual artist, born in 1999 in Benin, West Africa. After his degree in civil engineering obtained in 2020, he decided to devote himself to his passion, drawing. Indeed, since 2018 he has become familiar with portraiture and decided to indulge in it during 2020. He represented facial expressions in particular and sought to convey all kinds of emotions through the eyes of his models. Along the way, he found himself an affinity with the ballpoint pen which became his main medium. The pen allowed him to express himself fully, however he remains open to other mediums that he generally uses to create atmospheres. Continually seeking the red thread that would guide his career, he was nevertheless sure of one thing: his art would not be exclusively decorative but would transmit useful existential lessons to his contemporaries and to future generations. He is very inspired by the surreal works of Jono Dry, attracted by his use of shadows and light on the human body as well as the achievements of Julien Sinzogan with his fascinating allusions to black history. He realized the richness of the history and culture of his country. For Aureal, art is a way to explore the world within us; a world that is only a partial reflection of the whole universe; reflection that the artist continually seeks to enlarge.
