He has the ability to create intimate spaces in the middle of a city without the need of gimmickry whilst treading the fine line between the sensuality of the fine art nude and the repellent crudity of pornography. Kurta does not treat the women he photographs as sexual objects. His images possess the subtleties required to expose the delicate 'shades of grey' that separate art from erotica placing them comfortably on the borderline between expression and desire.

Arkadiy Kurta was born in the Ukrainian city of Sumy in 1977. He earned his bachelor's degree in photography from the Kiev School of Photography in 2007 and has been working professionally since 2009. He has had his art displayed in Ukraine, and he travels throughout Europe on assignment for magazines such as 'Stern,' 'Pentaprism,' and 'Shades of Grey,' among others. He is currently based in Kiev and works there. He has won gold FIAP and PSA awards.
