My mission is to create a mirror, which reflects our human drama and condition. My goal is to transform media into images and stories, which speak to who we are and why we are.
Childhood experiences with family, Jewish culture, and West Philadelphia’s ethnic diversity, continue to inspire my “In Your Face” content and style. A 45-year career in television news and documentary production offered many significant insights, which helped to shape my worldview, personal aesthetic, and artistic message.
My process is experimental and abstract. I like to say that I partner with the paint. When confronting a blank canvas, I prefer to have no image in mind and no attachment to any outcome. To discover unique and compelling imagery in the painted confusion, I work with both traditional paint on canvas and digital media. It is not unusual for me to repeat this back-and-forth process several times before actually completing a painting.
Usually, but not always, the final painting is an ink jet print on film or canvas. When I finish a painting, I feel as if I discovered something new.

The real excitement is watching an image pierce through the surface of the paint. If I like what I see, I clarify and refine the image. If not, I keep playing.
I work with both traditional paint on canvas and computer aided, digital media. To create a more compelling and unique work of art I might go from traditional painting to digital and back again. It is not unusual to repeat this process several times. Usually, but not always, the final painting is an ink jet print on film or canvas.
