About the author
Jeff Rosenfeld, a contemporary American sculptor, traces the roots of his artistic journey back to his early years when he first encountered handmade art. His initiation into the world of craftsmanship began through experimenting with various hardwoods on his father's lathe during his youth. The allure of creating art from raw materials soon led him to college, where he successfully sold his wooden creations in several independent boutiques.
In 2009, a pivotal moment occurred in Rosenfeld's artistic evolution when he discovered his true passion during a week-long stone carving course with the Marble Institute of Colorado. Nestled in the pristine mountains near the Crystal River, just outside Marble, Colorado, this experience marked the beginning of a transformative journey that continues to unfold today beneath the trees in Rosenfeld's North Texas backyard.
Specializing in the use of marble, alabaster, and onyx in a diverse range of colors and patterns, Jeff Rosenfeld personally designs and carves each of his sculptures. His commitment to pushing the boundaries of his technique is evident as he constantly experiments with new concepts. Despite this ongoing exploration, Rosenfeld maintains an unwavering dedication to the highest standards of craftsmanship, resulting in the production of only three to six sculptures annually.
While Rosenfeld initially focused on using simple contemporary forms to showcase the inherent beauty of the stone, his current artistic obsession revolves around delving into the complexities of interwoven designs. Through intricate and thoughtful creations, Jeff Rosenfeld continues to push himself and his chosen medium, creating a body of work that reflects both his artistic evolution and a deep connection with the natural materials he transforms into art.
